Chelsea media round-up: Torres hits out over spell with the Blues

Fernando Torres

A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been quoted by the Daily Mail suggesting his spell at the club was like ‘swimming with wet clothes on’.

Torres linked up with the Blues in a big £50 million deal after leaving Liverpool, where he had a dramatic impact after coming into the English game.

He was never able to rediscover his best form, eventually making his way back to old club Atletico Madrid.

The Daily Express has reported that Chelsea are ready to spend around £150 million on two players this summer.

The paper reports that Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and central defender Raphael Varane are both targets for the club.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly made them both priorities to bring in over the course of the summer.

Chelsea owned Patrick Bamford scored the only goal of the game as Middlesbrough secured a 1-0 win over Derby County, as reported by the Derby Telegraph.

The result puts Boro firmly in the frame for automatic promotion into the Premier League by the end of the season.

Bamford is one of several talented young players that the club currently has out on loan deals.
