Rovers supporters were none to pleased about their manager's decision to take off the tall striker towards the end of the 3-2 home defeat.

Blackburn Rovers’ faint play-off hopes took a major blow on Tuesday night after allowing sixth-placed Brentford to twice come from behind and leave Ewood Park with a 3-2 win.

Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer paired Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede up front for the first time in six matches and decision soon paid off, with the latter giving the hosts the lead in the fifth-minute with his 16th goal of the season.

Brentford would equalise just before the break through Chris Long, before Chris Taylor's first league strike gave Rovers a half-time advantage, but the home side would have no answer to second-half goals from Jota and Andre Gray.

With Gray’s clincher coming in the 84th-minute, Blackburn fans were seemingly incessant over Bowyer’s decision to substitute the imposing Gestede for Chris Brown 10 minutes earlier, as boos greeted the decision which many ultimately felt cost them a chance of at least a point.

Blackburn now sit 11 points behind their promotion pushing opponents with eight matches remaining after their three-match winning league run was halted and, judging from the Twitter reaction on the night, most believe the result signalled the end of their season.
