Sunderland have appointed Dick Advocaat as their manager following the dismissal of Gus Poyet on Monday.
The 67-year-old Dutchman has been appointed the Black Cats boss until the end of the season, and has been entrusted with the task of making sure that they remain in the Premier League next season.
Sunderland are currently 17th in the Premier League table with 26 points from 29 matches, just a point behind Burnley, who are third from bottom in the standings.
The Black Cats suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, a result which ultimately saw Poyet lose his job.
Following the announcement of the news on Tuesday morning, Sunderland fans took to social networking site Twitter on the suitability of Advocaat for the job.

I did NOT see the new #SAFC appointment coming. I just hope by May, he doesn't end up looking like an Advocaat.— ABSORB (@thisisABSORB) March 17, 2015
