As reported by Sky Sports, Southampton winger Lloyd Isgrove has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension.
The 22-year-old’s current contract was due to expire this summer, but he has now committed to the club until at least 2017.
That is good news not just for Isgrove, but for those Saints fans who have been impressed by the player’s brief but exciting contributions to date.
He has made six senior appearances for Southampton, and he is at an age where he will want to prove to manager Ronald Koeman that he should be featuring far more regularly moving forward.
As he said himself in comments published by Sky Sports, “It’s probably the biggest two years of my career so far.”
It certainly is, with Isgrove knowing he now has a platform on which to potentially build a successful career at St Mary’s.
Along with his performances for Southampton, Isgrove also enjoyed a relatively successful loan spell at Peterborough United, where he made 11 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
