Manchester City media round-up: Pellegrini confident of keeping his job

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini has been quoted by the Irish Times claiming he doesn’t feel winning a trophy is linked to keeping his job.

The Chilean is under pressure to match and better the standards set by the club in the last couple of seasons.

City now face their only chances of success in the Premier League and Champions League.

“It’s not ’if you don’t win, you’re out,” he’s quoted by the paper.

David Silva has been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting Manchester City need to take inspiration from PSG in the Champions League this week.

City take on Barcelona away from home, trailing 2-1 in the tie as they look to try and progress to the next round.

PSG managed to see off Chelsea last week, fighting in extra time with only ten men.

“Not many thought PSG would knock out Chelsea, especially with only 10 men for so long so I know that everything can happen,” he said.

Brendan Rodgers has been quoted by the Daily Star sending a message to Liverpool’s rivals Manchester City.

Rodgers is confident that his team’s current form will be strong enough to see his side replace City in second place.

City have been the club pushing Chelsea at the top of the league for most of this current season.

“We want to do the best we can do and I think Manchester City's result at the weekend gives us an opportunity to finish second,” he said.
