N’Zogbia struggled for playing time under Paul Lambert, but since his sacking in February and the arrival of Sherwood, the 28-year-old winger has started to get back into form.
The Frenchman started the Villans’ Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday and gave a good account of himself.
The former Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic star had three shots, a pass accuracy of 86%, created two chances, put in five crosses, attempted eight dribbles, and won 50% of the tackles.
Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp was impressed with the performance of N’Zogbia and wrote in The Daily Mail: “He (Sherwood) has Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor scoring but, more importantly, he has brought Charles N’Zogbia back in from the cold.
“Paul Lambert froze him out but he is exactly the kind of creative force Villa were crying out for. He certainly doesn’t play with fear and his energy and skill tore Sunderland apart.”
N’Zogbia is a good player, and him coming into form under Sherwood is only going to help Villa’s chances of survival in the Premier League.
The Villans are currently 16th in the league table with 28 points from 29 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.
However, things have started to improve in recent weeks, with Villa winning their last three matches in all competitions and progressing to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
