Tottenham round-up, Bentaleb vows to put things right, first team chance for youngster

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has told the Tottenham website that the side are determined to put things right after their humbling 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The defeat leaves Spurs six points adrift in the race for the top four with nine games to go, but with two rivals for the places playing at Anfield on Sunday when United travel to Merseyside to take on Liverpool, there is a potential opportunity for Tottenham to close the gap when they play Leicester City at White Hart Lane.

The midfielder admitted they never got going at Old Trafford, saying: “We’ve played well recently and it’s a shame - and we have to tell the truth - we just didn’t turn up and the game was over before we started.

“I feel really bad about the game, especially for the fans and I can tell them that we will come back stronger and show a different face when we play Leicester at home."

The Daily Mail is reporting that Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino wants to give Alex Pritchard a chance in the first team next season, having spent this term on loan at Brentford.

The 21-year-old could be the next academy player to come through to the first team, according to the report, with Pochettino said to be impressed by the progress the young midfielder has made.

The Mail also reports that Christian Eriksen will be the youngest player to win 50 caps for Denmark after being named in the squad for their internationals against the USA and France, breaking the record of Michael Laudrup.
