Mackie is currently out on loan at Reading, but there is a feeling that he could have a part to play back at his parent club next term.
The hard-working forward has been in fine form recently and could fit in well with the tactics being implemented by Dougie Freedman at Forest.
Mackie says that he is feeling very confident at the moment and believes that he will hit the back of the net every time he steps on to the field.
“I’m in really good form,” he said. “I’m loving my football at the moment. I feel like I’m going to score in every game, which is a nice feeling."
Mackie's statement should boost Forest fans, as it means that the 29-year-old will clearly return to the club full of confidence.
So far Mackie has not made much an impact with the Reds, but he has undoubted quality at Championship level and his importance to the side could be great next season.
Forest are working under a transfer embargo and they will, therefore, not be able to bring in many high-profile additions.
It means that Freedman will be required to make the most of what he has got next season, and Mackie could benefit from that.
The attacker has scored six goals in his last six appearances and it would foolish for Forest to ignore a player in such good form, if he can carry it over into the next campaign.
