The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals and created 34 chances in 37 Championship appearances, while having a pass accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 44%.
Rhodes was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest earlier this month, with the Championship playoff-hopefuls reported by The Sun to be interested in a loan deal for him.
However, those transfer talks have now cooled off, and it looks like that the former Ipswich Town striker will remain at Blackburn until the end of the season.
Prutton is impressed with the performances of Rhodes and has underlined the dilemma he will face in the summer.
“You do wonder what the next step is for someone as prolific as that,” the 33-year-old told the Sky Sports’ FL 72 Review show on Monday.
“You really want to go and test yourself against the biggest names in the game, or you stay loyal where you have been? It will be interesting to see where he ends up.”
Should Jordan Rhodes leave Blackburn Rovers?
Rhodes has been on the books of Blackburn since 2012 and has a contract until June 2019, and the Championship outfit have no obligation to sell him in the summer.
However, if the former Huddersfield Town striker continues to bang in the goals until the end of the season, then it is likely that offers will come for him from bigger teams.
The 25-year-old has time on his hand to further his career, and the next logical step would be to play in the Premier League.
It is unlikely that the big clubs in the English top flight will come knocking on Rovers’ door, but there could be a few teams in the lower end of the table who could be interested.
Blackburn have ambitions to return to the Premier League, but it does not look likely that they would clinch a playoff place in the Championship this season.
Would Rovers be able to convince Rhodes to remain at Ewood Park for one more season?
