Tottenham fans are keen to see DeAndre Yedlin get a chance in the first team.
Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin started for the club's under-21 side on Monday, less than 24 hours after the first team lost to Manchester United.
Yedlin was not even on the bench at Old Trafford, but the woeful performance of England international right-back Kyle Walker has intensified calls for the American to be given a chance.
Walker's form has been mixed since he returned to the team, and with Spurs suddenly six points off the top four, there is less to play for and more reason for head coach Mauricio Pochettino to begin to be more experimental with his team selections.
Yedlin signed from MLS side Seattle Sounders last summer and was originally scheduled to join this summer, but in January his arrival date was brought forward, yet he is yet to feature for the first team.
Now is very much an ideal time for Spurs to give him opportunities in the Premier League, but only if Pochettino feels he is ready.
His presence coincided with Tottenham's under-21 side losing their first game of 2015, defeated 2-0 by Norwich City.
Here is a look at some of the comments from supporters desperate to see the World Cup star handed a chance...
Yedlin back in the U21s probably the best news I've seen this morning. Hopefully it means some rest for Walker soon. #THFC— Anthony DeAngelo (@anthonydeangelo) March 16, 2015
Admire Poch's loyalty but now he should shuffle the pack. Fazio, Stambouli and maybe Yedlin need a go. #thfc— Stuart James (@JedLomax) March 16, 2015
Never seen Kyle Walker play so poor & has been average at best since being back from injury. No excuse why Yedlin can't have a crack? #THFC— Neal Tilbury (@NealTilbury) March 15, 2015
