Two of Tottenham Hotspur's exciting young players were in action for the club's under-21 side on Monday afternoon.
DeAndre Yedlin has had to wait patiently for a chance to show what he can do for Tottenham Hotspur, with the USA international yet to make his senior debut for the club.
Having seen his loan spell at Seattle Sounders cut short in January, the 21-year-old has so far played only two matches for Tottenham’s under-21s, the second of which was Monday’s 2-0 defeat to Norwich City.
Yedlin had first pulled on a Spurs shirt for a 3-1 win against West Ham United’s youngsters, but he was not as fortuitous the second time around, losing in a match that saw few chances.
Yedlin will surely be hoping to make his senior debut for Mauricio Pochettino’s side before the end of the current campaign, but for now he has to prove he has what it takes at this level.
During the match, Yedlin was photographed with another youngster tipped for great things in the form of 19-year-old Harry Winks.
The central midfielder made his debut for Spurs in their Europa League match against Partizan Belgrade earlier this season but those brief minutes have been his only experience of such things so far.
Although two years, 12 caps and 69 senior appearances separate the two players, both Yedlin and Winks could play a significant role for Pochettino’s side next season, with the games coming thick and fast and this campaign proving the importance of strength in depth.
