Celtic won their first trophy of the season on Sunday, when they got the better of Dundee United 2-0 in the final of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
The Bhoys dominated the encounter throughout the 90 minutes and deservedly won it.
Ronny Deila’s side took the lead in the 28th minute when Kris Commons fired home from close range.
United went down to 10 men early in the second half when defender Sean Dillon was sent off.
That made things worse for United, as Celtic increased the pressure and scored their second with 12 minutes of normal time remaining, when James Forrest found the target from distance after being teed up by John Guidetti.
Forrest had a great chance to make it 3-0 to Celtic in the final minutes of the encounter, but his penalty was saved.
Celtic had 53% of the possession, 18 shots of which six were on target, and eight corners. In contrast, United had 47% of the possession, just two shots of which one was on target, and only four corners.
Following the victory, Celtic stars Anthony Stokes, Jason Denayer, Leigh Griffiths and John Guidetti took to social networking site Twitter to revel in the triumph.
