Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has been speaking to Talk Sport following his side’s 4-0 victory against Sunderland this weekend.
Villa beat the Black Cats courtesy of braces from Gabriel Agbonlahor and Christian Benteke, but another player really caught the eye in the form of Leandro Bacuna.
The 23-year-old Dutchman was a constant menace from the right-back position and he finished the game with plenty of plaudits and two assists.
That performance has led his manager to compare him with one of the greatest full-backs ever to pull on a Brazil shirt.
Speaking to Call Collymore, the Villa boss said, “Leandro Bacuna, who’s a right-sided attacking player was playing at right-back and he looked like Cafu against Sunderland. I’m delighted with him.
Villa’s latest win is a huge one both for the club and for Sherwood himself, with the former Tottenham Hotspur boss fully aware of the struggles ahead when he took charge.
He has helped the club turn a big corner and the victory against Sunderland not only gave them a much-needed three points but also pulled the Black Cats deeper into the scrap themselves.
