Queens Park Rangers had a first half to forget when they came up against Crystal Palace this weekend.
Chris Ramsey’s side were desperate for a point or three but their hopes of taking anything from this match ended before the interval.
First-half goals from Wilfried Zaha, James McArthur and Joel Ward put Palace out of sight with half the match still to play, and while QPR scored the only goal of the second period through Matt Phillips it was too little too late.
Darnell Furlong was the player to make way at half-time after the 19-year-old endured a torrid match-up with Palace’s Yannick Bolasie.
The winger had the young full-back all ends up and it was no surprise to see Ramsey make the change.
Furlong was making only his third senior appearance for QPR and he has surely learned plenty from his latest match.
But what did QPR fans think of the youngster’s contribution? After the match we took to Twitter to find out and you can read a selection of what we found below:
I feel sorry for Darnell Furlong, Poor kid. Unfair what Chris Ramsey has done to him.— Jeffro (@JabHookNQPR) March 14, 2015
As much as I rate Darnell Furlong, he seems rather out of his depth. A huge talent, but too much too soon. #QPR— Paul Nasr (@SkyPaulNasr) March 14, 2015
Four goals conceded by QPR from the left flank in Darnell Furlong’s last two apps. Not fair on a real prospect, he gets no protection.— Wally Downes jr (@WallyDownes_Jr) March 14, 2015
Darnell Furlong Is Having A Horror Show— Bushido Brown (@TowaaOye_) March 14, 2015
Darnell furlong isn't actually very good, I want him to be our right back all the same just cos his dad is Paul— Matt King (@kingmatt96) March 14, 2015
@DarnellFurlong chin up mate, will make you stronger not helped by being badly exposed down that side— Burgo (@Burgo8) March 14, 2015
Time to sit Darnell Furlong down and tell him he will never be good enough for QPR first team. Hope Ramsey is up to it— Matthew Doran (@PaghamRaider) March 14, 2015
