It was a cup final in which everyone seemed to deliver for Celtic. Even those who have recently come under fire.
Along with seeming legions of Celtic fans intent on criticising the pair, former Bhoy Frank McAvennie also slammed them on Twitter recently after a below-par display. Interestingly, that, too, was against Dundee United.
But the Celtic stars responded in the best possible way after boss Ronny Deila kept faith with them for the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park.
Stokes registered an assist for Kris Commons' opener, while Forrest doubled Celtic's lead to secure a trophy they last won in 2009.
Judging by the pictures, neither player was shy when it came to celebrating their achievements. Stokes celebrated publicly with fans, while Forrest was pictured being sprayed with champagne by Adam Matthews.
And the duo (below) were also jubilant on the pitch for Celtic.
That's one trophy down during Deila's first season at Parkhead. Now two more for a truly historic campaign. And maybe Stokes & Forrest can play an even bigger part in securing Celtic's next title...
