The 22-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at the City Ground from Villa Park.
Aston Villa were simply brilliant yesterday, although they were helped by the ineptitude of their opponents Sunderland. Villa led 4-0 at half time and that was how things stayed on the night as they cruised to victory.
Those four goals equalled Villa's goalscoring tally on the road in the Premier League this season and sent a clear message out to Premier League fans, Tim Sherwood is turning this team on it's head.
One loaned out player was clearly impressed with the result.
He has recently been one of the form players at Nottingham Forest, as they reached for a last ditch tilt at the playoffs.
That now looks to be slipping away from them, after a tense 0-0 draw with rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.
But after the game the 22-year-old midfield operator, who has scored three goals for Forest, Tweeted this message of support to his parent club.
Buzzing for the villa lads great result away from home get in there!!!#utv— Gary Gardner (@22Gards) March 14, 2015
With Sherwood looking happy to give young players a go at Villa Park, Gardner might be hoping to get his chance next season.
