A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford this afternoon in their first match since losing in the FA Cup quarter-final to Arsenal.

A top-four finish is a must for United but Spurs are also chasing that very thing and it should make for an exciting encounter later today.

In early team news, the BBC reports that United will be without the suspended Angel Di Maria, following his dismissal against the Gunners.

Robin van Persie is out with an ankle injury while defender Marcos Rojo is a doubt although his groin problem is only said to be minor.

In other news, United manager Louis van Gaal has been speaking ahead of the match about the future of club-record signing Di Maria.

The Argentine has flattered to deceive in recent times but in comments published by, van Gaal said he felt the player would remain at Old Trafford for some time yet.

“I think that he shall stay because what I have seen in his reaction, after the defeat and after his red card against Arsenal in the FA Cup, is very good and I like his attitude.”

Di Maria himself will also surely want to prove to United fans what he is capable of week in, week out, once he has a full season to acclimatise under his belt.
