The Arsenal forward continued his impressive form against West Ham.
Olivier Giroud continued his impressive goalscoring form this season against West Ham with his 14th goal in just 24 matches, and emphasised to Sky Sports in an interview after the game how important the result was ahead of Tuesday's crunch Champions League game.
It also saw Arsenal strengthen their position in the top four, and with Manchester City losing and Chelsea drawing, leaves them just seven points off first place.
“3-0 is a fantastic win for us," the striker said. “We’re in a really good run, we’ve won eight of our last nine games.
“We were struggling a little with our efficiency [in front of goal], but it’s still 3-0 so we are really happy. It’s a good result before the Champions League game."
3-0 would be the perfect scoreline for Arsenal on Tuesday when they try and turn around their Champions League tie with Monaco.
Aside from the disappointing 3-1 home loss to the Ligue 1 side, Arsenal's form has been pretty strong in recent weeks, and as Giroud rightly points out, they have been particularly good in the Premier League, where they've won 25 points out of 28.
The former Montpellier man has been in excellent form this season, and his goal in the derby saw him score for the fourth game in a row, as well adding an assist for Aaron Ramsey after some superb link up play. Arsene Wenger will surely be hoping his players can bring that kind of intricate play to the Stade Louis II stadium.
