Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez recorded his 750th appearance for his boyhood club in Saturday's 0-2 win over Eibar, furthering his legend as one of the greatest to play for the Catalan giants.
Xavi was at 749 appearances coming into Saturday's match and it looked as though the milestone would have to wait for next week's Champions League match against Manchester City at the Camp Nou, after the 34-year-old was named to the bench against Eibar.
However, Xavi began warming up at half-time and in the 62nd minute, replaced Ivan Rakitic and achieved the tremendous milestone.
Xavi was set to leave to join MLS' newest expansion side New York City FC, but manager Luis Enrique persuaded the iconic midfielder to come back for his seventeenth season and despite playing a secondary role, Xavi has played a vital role in the success of the club this season.
Following the win, Luis Enrique continued praising Xavi on his incredible success throughout his storied career and urged the Catalan playmaker to continue adding to the numbers he already has.
"Those are incredible numbers. I encourage him to continue adding to it. He adds to the team when he plays and also when he isn't in the starting line-up. He carries an unquestionable weight in the dressing room. I hope to see him for many more games in the Barca shirt."
Xavi remains the player with the most appearances in club history and also the most appearances in La Liga.
