Report: Liverpool want Mowatt, Cellino expected to demand at least £5m

The Leeds star is the subject of reported interest from the Premier League side.

Liverpool are considering a summer bid for Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Mirror claim the Reds have already sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old - one of Leeds' undisputed stars of the season - and have been particularly impressed with his recent form.

Liverpool will have to get in line, of course, with both Everton and West Ham United already reportedly having registered their interest in the Leeds youngster this term.

As Opta stats show, Mowatt's influence on Leeds' season cannot be understated. The 20-year-old is the Yorkshire side's joint-top scorer in the Championship, having also created 36 chances and completed more final-third passes than any other Leeds player aside from Sam Byram.

All the more reason to foresee a bright future for Mowatt at Leeds, with owner Massimo Cellino surely in no way inclined towards a sale (boss Neil Redfearn has repeatedly suggested this is the case).

The Mirror's report, however, suggests Cellino 'would be expected' to demand at least £5 million for the youngster - although it stops short of stating he would most certainly accept any Liverpool bid. He'd be wise not to, that's for sure...
