Manchester City fans rage at Manuel Pellegrini's tactics and substitutions on Twitter

Supporters of the Premier League champions were not best pleased with their manager on social media.

The last thing you need before a big Champions League clash against Barcelona is to lose to a side in the relegation zone of your division. Ah, well that's rather awkward for Manuel Pellegrini, then.

Indeed, the Manchester City boss witnessed one of the bleakest performances and results of his Etihad Stadium tenure on Saturday evening, as Burnley beat City 1-0 at Turf Moor.

And the Chilean did not get off lightly in terms of criticism after the game. On Twitter, Manchester City fans were far from happy with their manager...

Their first major criticism of the 61-year-old was one many level at Pellegrini on a weekly basis: that his 'broken-record' tactics simply do not work.

But, far from just setting his team up wrong, the Manchester City head coach was also criticised for his in-game substitutions. A goal down to Burnley, Pellegrini took Yaya Toure, David Silva and Edin Dzeko off. Suffice to say those changes didn't have the desired effect.

Where next for Manchester City and, more pertinently, Pellegrini? Is it the end of the line for the Chilean or will he stay on despite what looks almost guaranteed to be a miserly, trophyless campaign?

Here's how City fans reacted to the 61-year-old's tactics and substitutions on Twitter after the Burnley defeat...
