Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho lauded as Brazil's best European star

Manchester City’s Fernando has stated that the Anfield favourite is the top player from the South American nation currently.

Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has been in exemplary form of late, scoring long-range strikes against Southampton and Manchester City in the Premier League.

With the Anfield fans’ favourite starting to play to his best, Brendan Rodgers’ men are looking like a side capable of finishing in the top four.

The former Inter midfielder has been included in the most recent Brazil squad and looks destined to play an important role for club and country going forward.

Manchester City’s Fernando has hailed Coutinho after the Liverpool star scored the winner against the Premier League champions at Anfield recently.

The Etihad Stadium enforcer claimed that Coutinho was better than any other Brazilian playing in Europe currently, which would include the likes of Willian, Oscar and Neymar.

“I wanted to say ‘‘well done’’ to him after his winning goal,” Fernando is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

“To me, he is the best Brazilian playing in Europe at the moment.”

Coutinho has started to thrive in Liverpool’s 3-4-3 formation, with the South American linking up well with Englishmen Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling in recent weeks.

The Rio de Janeiro born schemer has started 22 Premier League games for the Merseysiders this campaign, scoring four goals and creating four assists in the club’s efforts to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
