Leeds United round-up: Early team news and ex-star's honest reflection

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United welcome Nottingham Forest to Elland Road this weekend in a match that promises much.

Neil Redfearn’s side are currently 13th in the Championship while Forest are ninth, nine points outside the playoff places.

In early team news the BBC reports that Leeds captain Liam Cooper is back in contention after missing last week’s victory against Wigan Athletic due to a hip injury.

Winger Sam Byram will be assessed ahead of the match as he looks to recover from a bruised foot.

As for Forest, they should have Henri Lansbury and Danny Fox available while loanee Modou Barrow may feature.

In other news, former Leeds player David Prutton has been speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about his time at the club.

The midfielder arrived when Leeds were at arguably their lowest point, and he gave a long and insightful interview about what it was like to be at the club at that time.

Speaking of his feelings towards the club he said, "I knew the stories, I read about the crises, but it wasn't like we were walking into a two-bob club where you washed your own kit and brought a packed lunch. It was still Leeds United with a big training ground and a big stadium."

Leeds are now on the up once again, with Redfearn guiding a promising young squad up the table and looking to push on again next season.
