The Tottenham Hotspur defender is in bullish mood ahead of Sunday afternoon's visit to Old Trafford.Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has sent a confident message to Sunday afternoon's opponents Manchester United, according to the club's official website.
The north London side travel to Old Trafford in the Premier League this weekend having won on their last to visits to Manchester United.
This time, they face a team managed by Louis van Gaal - but one hardly in the best of form.
And, considering their encouraging season so far, Tottenham man Vertonghen is in bullish mood ahead of the fixture.
Indeed, the 27-year-old has been buoyed by Spurs' recent form and insists Mauricio Pochettino's men will go to Manchester United with confidence.
"This is a massive game for both teams and I hope we can do well there again," the Belgian said.
"We took six points last week, we're closer to the top teams and with our form and how we're playing at the moment, we go to United with confidence."
Tottenham are only three points behind Manchester United, sitting in sixth place in the Premier League (United are fourth).
Both, however, will be especially eager to earn a result in light of Arsenal's 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners have strengthened their hold on third place, with both United and Spurs chasing them - or the fourth and final Champions League place.
Liverpool are also in serious contention and are a point above Tottenham, two behind Manchester United. The Reds travel to Swansea City on Monday night.
