Report: Atletico Madrid keeping tabs on Manchester City striker

Stevan Jovetic playing for Montenegro

Atletico Madrid are reported to be monitoring the situation of Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic, who continues to remain on the bench at the Etihad.

Atletico Madrid are, according to the Daily Mirror, monitoring the situation of Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic, as the club looks to add depth to their already stellar squad this summer.

Atletico have been linked with Jovetic for several years, but the recent admission that the 25-year-old Montenegrin will likely look to make a move away from City this summer after being left off the club's Champions League roster has reportedly led Los Colchoneros to keep a watchful eye on his progress.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester City are willing to take a massive financial hit on the player, with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan set to make offers of £12 million for the player's services, nearly half of the £22 million City paid Fiorentina two summers ago.

Jovetic is now seen as Manuel Pellegrini's fourth choice striker behind Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and former Swansea City star Wilfried Bony, who bumped Jovetic from the club's Champions League squad.

Atletico, in addition to being linked with Jovetic, are also rumoured to be interested in Edin Dzeko, per the Independent, as the club could look to unload him despite the Bosnian being one of their most productive goal-scorers.
