Wenger comments on quality in Allardyce, which could make difference this weekend

Sam Allardyce Press Conference 12/02/2014

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised Sam Allardyce ahead of the game against West Ham United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised West Ham boss Sam Allardyce at his press conference ahead of the Premier League clash between the clubs this weekend.

Wenger feels the Hammers manager has done a good job at Upton Park and has also suggested a quality he sees in Allardyce, which will be important in the game in East London.

“Sam Allardyce has done extremely well and has a lot of experience. It plays a part in this type of game,” he said.

West Ham are still in a good position to compete for a position in the top eight before the end of the season, as speculation rolls on over whether Allardyce will keep his job for next season.

They played superbly through the early part of the season and have maintained a decent position despite struggling since the turn of the year.

Arsenal will be the favourites for the game, but Allardyce has experienced this sort of match up several times previously in his career.

He’ll have ideas over how to make the game difficult for the Gunners, looking to frustrate them and work the game to West Ham’s advantage.

Arsenal have the momentum and will be confident after a good performance against Manchester United away from home in the FA Cup.

However, West Ham have the advantage of a home crowd and Allardyce will want the side to give them plenty to shout about.
