Villa go into their game against Sunderland this weekend off the back of two consecutive wins and will be looking to put three more points on the board as the side fights for survival in the Premier League.
“I’ve not looked at the games coming up. We’re looking at the next one, which is Sunderland,” said Sherwood.
“I don’t care who we help and who we save along the way and who we sacrifice. It’s just about us.”
The stakes are extremely high for Villa at the moment so it’s a sensible approach to go from one game to the next, approaching each challenge as it comes.
It would be naïve for the side to think too far ahead, which creates the possibility of distractions and Villa’s key players taking their eye off the ball for important goals.
Sherwood has done well to creative a positive attitude around Villa Park and another win this weekend should strengthen the confidence and resolve in the current side.
His job is to keep Villa safe and prepare the side for a trip to Wembley in the FA Cup.
The club has a cushion above the bottom three but Sherwood will just want that to keep developing over the course of the next few weeks to ease the pressure, which will give him the room to experiment more in the final weeks.
