Arsenal decide not to move for Khedira: Jan Aage Fjortoft

The Real Madrid midfielder looks set for a switch to Schalke, according to the retired Norwegian striker.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira of late, but it appears that the Gunners may well have decided against a move for the Germany international.

Respected Bundesliga pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has revealed on social media that Khedira could well be heading back to his homeland, with a move to Schalke on the cards.

However, the Norwegian also commented that the Gunners have decided not to make a move for the midfielder, who is out of contract at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid - something that was ironically revealed by Fjortoft, while the number of German players in Arsene Wenger’s squad suggest that Khedira would be a potential signing.

The North London club have had issues in the centre of midfield this season, with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta all suffering long-term injury setbacks.

Khedira has only started three La Liga games this season at the Santiago Bernabeu despite playing a key role for the Spanish capital city side in previous campaigns.
