Southampton could be about to complete one of the transfer bargains of the summer, if reports suggesting that they have landed Eljero Elia for £3.9 million prove to be correct.
Sport Bild, as reported by SportWitness, claim that Elia could move to Southampton on a cut price deal from Werder Bremen, and if they do secure his signature for that price it will surely go down as a brilliant piece of business.
Elia has impressed at St. Mary's after moving to the Saints at the start of the year and to get such a talented player for under £4 million is further evidence of Southampton's excellence in the transfer window.
The Saints' scouting system and transfer policy has become the envy of many clubs across England, with almost every one of their additions last summer being a success.
If they are able to complete the transfer of Elia, then it will be a great start to next season's recruitment drive as the Dutch international has already shown he can perform in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has increased Southampton's threat and he looks to be a player that Ronald Koeman can utilise for many years to come.
His pace and trickery has caused problems for defences across the league and there is no doubt that he is one of the more talented wingers in the division.
If Southampton are able to recruit him for just £3.9 million it is unlikely that a better piece of business will be done next summer and Ronald Koeman will be delighted to have secured a key transfer target, with a sizeable chunk of his budget still to spend.
