Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic Tweets pic with legend Gordon Banks

The Bosnian shared a stage with the England World Cup winner yesterday.

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is already highly regarded at the club. The Bosnian star has become a colossus in the Stoke goalmouth since joining the club from Portsmouth in 2010.

The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer in the Stoke team ever since. However, there is absolutely no doubt that he has some way to go before filling the gloves of the greatest goalkeeper to play for the club.

Gordon Banks was at Stoke from 1967 until 1972. The World Cup-winning stopper played 250 times for The Potters after joining from Leicester City.

Generally considered as the greatest English goalkeeper of all time he still holds legendary status at the club, and Begovic certainly is aware of that fact.

Something he highlighted today, after Tweeting the following photo and comment:

Stoke fans will certainly hope Begovic goes on to become as renowned at the club as the legendary Banks.

But fears are always present with the Bosnian regarding potential interest in his services from elsewhere, with Liverpool linked with his signature in December by The Daily Mail.
