Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez may have to take a pay-cut if he wants to remain at the club beyond the summer, according to The Chronicle.
Gutierrez has only recently recovered from testicular cancer and returned to competitive action, but it seems that to have a future at Newcastle, he will have to accept new terms.
The former Real Mallorca star made his first appearance in 17 months last week, when he came on as a substitute in the second half of the Premier League game against Manchester United.
John Carver’s side lost the encounter 1-0, but Gutierrez got a huge reception from the Newcastle fans, among whom he remains very popular.
But perhaps Newcastle want to get more value for their money and are not willing to pay the Argentina international as much as they are paying him now.
