Ray Parlour has given his assessment on what would be a good season for Aston Villa.
Villa have started building a little bit of momentum and Parlour has made an obvious assessment over what Tim Sherwood needs to do to get the side away from danger.
“Tim has gone in there and they’ve got two brilliant results against Albion – the big game was obviously the league,” said Parlour.
“It’s one of those situations where if he can get the strikers playing like he did with Adebayor at Tottenham – that’s going to get them out of trouble.”
“If they can just come fourth from bottom, what a season they’ve had.”
All areas of the team lacked confidence towards the end of Paul Lambert’s reign in charge of the club, but Sherwood seems to have drilled some belief and a positive attitude into the side.
Villa also have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to as well as a potential final place and Sherwood has been stressing the positives for the side to look forward to.
That’s not his issue. His issue and main challenge will be preventing his key players from worrying about the fallout if the club does go down.
Fortunately that won’t happen but given the latest TV rights deal and how difficult it has been for some big sides to get back into the top flight, going down would be disastrous for the club.
A league finish of 17th equates to safety and then Sherwood can go about his business over the summer looking to improve the team to prevent another similar negative season.
