Tottenham Hotspur legend Ossie Ardiles has been quoted by the Grimsby Telegraph suggesting the biggest challenge Harry Kane has to overcome at Tottenham.
Kane has enjoyed a fantastic season in Tottenham colours scoring 26 goals across all competitions, but Ardiles feels he has a long way to go before he gets near the impact of former Tottenham player Gareth Bale.
“It remains to be seen if he can reach the heights of Gareth Bale, but he's on the right path, and his future looks very rosy,” he said.
Bale was an exceptional and unique player before he made a big money move to go and play for Real Madrid in Spain.
He had a similar impact on the side to the one Kane has been having, which was popping up with big goals at big times to turn games and win the side points.
What made Bale’s impact all the more remarkable is that he did it from a midfield position off to the wing or in behind a striker, through the middle of the team.
The real challenge for Kane is going to be consistency. If he can maintain the sort of form and impact he has shown this season, there’s no reason he can’t push on and become an unbelievable striker over the next two or three years.
He’s already operating at a very high level, but he’s no longer a surprise for sides coming up against him and he’ll have to find ways to reinvent himself, as Bale did, to stay effective.
