Leeds boss Neil Redfearn has explained why he thinks Nottingham Forest have a good chance of securing a play-off place.

Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has been quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post suggesting Nottingham Forest have an outside chance of making the Championship play-offs.

Leeds and Forest are both in good form ahead of their clash this weekend and it will be interesting to see how each team approaches the game at Elland Road.

Redfearn is wary of the quality Forest have and has explained why he thinks Dougie Freedman’s men could grab a top six spot.

“Forest have got a shout. It’s a long shot but I’m convinced we’re going to see some surprises and some wobbles at both ends of the table,” he said.

“Us and Forest are in similar situations.”

Freedman will play down his side’s chances of getting into the top six, despite the form they have shown since he took over.

He’s sensible to do that because it removes the pressure and expectation from the players and allows them to focus on play an entertaining, attacking and aggressive brand of football.

Where he’s going to face a really difficult challenge is if Forest are in with a shout of a top six place with two or three games left.

If that happens, he can’t ignore the possibility of getting into the play-offs and needs to keep the side fresh and motivated to ensure they’re consistent in their performances.

For now though, the focus will be on getting three points against Leeds this weekend.
