Shaw played under Pochettino, who is currently the manager of North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur, at Southampton last season and is now working with Van Gaal at United.
“It’s a little bit similar, but I think it is more tactical here with what we do in training, and different to the sessions at Southampton,” the 19-year-old left-back told Inside United, as reported by Squawka.com.
Van Gaal has focused on tactics throughout his career, and he is doing the same at Premier League outfit United.
The Dutchman has used a number of formations this season, including three defenders and a flat back-four.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach appears to be tinkering with his formation still, and perhaps this is one of the reasons why United are not playing as well as expected.
Meanwhile, at Tottenham, Pochettino appears to have settled on his best players and best formation, although the North London outfit are behind the Red Devils in the Premier League table.
Shaw burst onto the scene at Southampton last season, creating 33 chances and having a pass accuracy of 79% in 35 Premier League appearances.
The teenager has struggled with injuries this campaign and has been able to feature only 13 times in the Premier League, creating nine chances and having a pass accuracy of 85%.
