Dundee United’s Charlie Telfer targets Celtic upset in Scottish League Cup final

Former Rangers youngster Charlie Telfer says that Dundee United can win against Celtic in the final of the Scottish League Cup on Sunday.

Dundee United midfielder Charlie Telfer has told STV that his side can win against Celtic on Sunday.

United will take on their Scottish Premiership rivals in the final of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

The two sides faced each other only last weekend, as the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie at Tannadice Park ended in a 1-1 draw.

Celtic will probably be favourites headed into Sunday’s big game, but 19-year-old Telfer is confident that Jackie McNamara’s team can emerge victorious.

"We’re all very confident," the former Rangers youngster told STV. "On Sunday, before it all kicked off with the red cards, we thought we were doing really well.

"I thought we were quite dominant in certain aspects of the game so I don’t know why we can’t go in on Sunday and go one better.”

Can Dundee United win on Sunday?

Celtic will be favourites to win on Sunday, but United’s chances cannot be written off just yet.

The Terrors gave a good account of themselves in last weekend’s game, and they should head into Sunday's big match with confidence.

The Bhoys have a better squad, but on the day if the United players step up their game, then they can certainly celebrate League Cup success.
