Newcastle United youngster Ayoze Perez returned to Spain this week to collect the award for Tenerife’s sportsperson of the year.
The 21-year-old scored 16 goals and set up a further seven for his former club CD Tenerife last season.
He then burst on to the scene at St James’ Park following his summer move, scoring five goals for Newcastle to date, including three in three consecutive matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion.
Perez has been used in a range of positions across the attacking third including on both wings, as a centre forward and as a secondary striker, and his versatility and eye for a goal suggest he could have a very bright future at the Magpies.
Newcastle posted a picture on their official Twitter account on Wednesday morning of the player holding his latest award.
If he continues on his current trajectory, he may well be collecting plenty more individual accolades in the years to come.
