Despite their best efforts to get themselves knocked out of the Champions League Real Madrid are through. They lost to Schalke 04 4-3 at the Bernabeu, but managed to scrape through to the next stage, 5-4 on aggregate.
Once again it was a performance that left the Iker Casillas doubters with plenty of ammo.
The Spanish legend has not been in good form for well over a year now and last night was no different. He looked lethargic and slow to react, despite a late cameo of his obvious talent which kept Real in the competition.
But blame could be credited in his direction for the first three goals and time is certainly running out on his stint as Real Madrid's number one.
Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas is certainly not the big name Real fans will want taking over from him - that accolade would belong to Manchester United stopper David De Gea.
A former Atletico Madrid player, he has been linked with Real Madrid in the past. Most recently, in February, Sky Sports reported that De Gea could leave Old Trafford - even if he signed a new deal at the club.
One man who clearly thinks De Gea will be on his way is Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher. The former England defender and Liverpool hero Tweeted this last night, suggesting the move was a 'no-brainer':
Madrid need a new keeper De Gea wants to win trophies no brainer.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) March 10, 2015
Manchester United fans will continue to hope that Carragher is wrong on this topic. However, with United out of all cup competitions and the title race, let alone facing a battle for top four, De Gea might indeed have cause to move on come the summer.
