BBC pundit and former Barcelona forward Gary Lineker saw good and bad news for Real Madrid in Tuesday evening’s 4-3 Champions League loss to Schalke.
Gary Lineker has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo was single-handedly responsible for saving Real Madrid against Schalke, while legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas has finally lost his magic.
In a series of tweets throughout Tuesday evening’s game, Lineker began by praising Cristiano Ronaldo while blasting Real Madrid’s lack of cohesion.
Even when Real Madrid play like they've never met each other, there is always Ronaldo.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 10, 2015

Real Madrid would go on to give up two more goals in the second half, while scoring one to ensure their advancement to the next round, but Lineker went on concede that Iker Casillas’ best days were behind him.
Casillas is a shadow of the great goalkeeper he unquestionably was.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 10, 2015
However, Lineker wasn’t done yet as he proceeded to give a warning to former Tottenham and Welsh international winger Gareth Bale, who has struggled in his sophomore season with Real Madrid.
Gareth Bale is getting whistled at by the Bernabeu crowd. In Spain that ain't good. Time for him to show his mettle in coming games.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 10, 2015
Lineker’s sometimes brash comments on Twitter have often been criticised but his assessments from Real Madrid’s loss were echoed by both Carlo Ancelotti and several Real Madrid players following the match.
Ancelotti accepted criticism after the performance, admitting that: "there are problems across the board," in an interview quoted by the Guardian.
Real have looked badly off their game since their record run of 22 straight wins came to an end and they will need to shape up before El clásico on March 22.
