The former Spurs hero has advice for the Real Madrid man after his recent woes.
Times have been tough in recent weeks for Real Madrid star, and former Tottenham Hotspur attacker, Gareth Bale. The Welsh wizard has not scored in his last nine appearances for the club, stretching back to January 24th.
Goals are lacking, as are performances. He has been poor in recent weeks with his passing, dribbling and decision making all below par.
Last night against Schalke he was particularly worrying. He gave away possession on numerous occasions and had the Real Madrid fans frustrated as they were beaten 4-3 on the night by the German side.
The reigning champions sneaked through in the end, but only thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's heroics and a strike from Karim Benzema - Bale was less than impressive.
Considering he cost Real Madrid a world record fee when they signed him from Tottenham in 2013, the fans are right to be frustrated. They showed their frustration by whistling and booing Bale, and other Real players such as Fabio Coentrao and Sami Khedira.
Now former Tottenham hero Gary Lineker has had his say. Lineker knows about playing in Spain as well as for Tottenham. He moved to Barcelona from Everton in 1986, before he joined Tottenham three years later. So he knows about Spanish fans, and Tweeted this for Bale's benefit last night:
Gareth Bale is getting whistled at by the Bernabeu crowd. In Spain that ain't good. Time for him to show his mettle in coming games.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 10, 2015
Bale and Real Madrid's next fixture is against struggling Levante on Sunday. Hopefully Real and Bale can get a confidence boost from that fixture.
