The first-teamer is currently out injured with a long-term knee problem.
Derby County club captain Shaun Barker has had a torrid three years because of injury. The 32-year-old centre back dislocated his kneecap and damaged knee ligaments in a game with Nottingham Forest in 2012 and has not played a game of football since.
During his time on the sidelines he has watched his side push for promotion and had to refute claims he could walk away from the game because of the severity of his knee problem.
However, he returned to first-team training in January and is slowly stepping up his return to competitive action, even appearing for the under-21s last month.
Now he has had some kind words to say about the players in that set-up. He sent this Tweet yesterday evening:
Congratulations to the 21s tonight! Some great lads and talent within their squad.— Shaun Barker (@barks5) March 10, 2015
Other players who impressed included former Arsenal talent Alban Bunjaku and Shaquille McDonald looking very good throughout.
Barker himself will be hoping to be back in the Derby first-team at some point soon. When he does, he might just have some of these young talents alongside him.
