One Manchester United loanee has been nominated for a prestigious goal of the season award.
The Red Devils own a host of players who have the skill to score fantastic goals, but it is a surprise loanee who has been selected as a candidate for the title.
21-year-old defender Andy Kellett arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day of the January transfer window, signing on loan until the end of the season as Saidy Janko headed to Bolton Wanderers in return.
He has since made just one appearance for United’s Under-21 side, and it is unlikely that he will ever turn out for their first-team. He has four professional appearances to his name for Bolton, but he still has his name in the running for the Football League goal of the season award.
During a loan spell with League Two Plymouth Argyle earlier this season, Kellett scored just one goal in 12 games, but it was a strike worthy of United legend Ryan Giggs. Picking up the ball on the left-wing, the youngster dribbled through a maze of defenders before slotting the ball past Northampton’s goalkeeper.
Kellett is up against the likes of Joe Garner - who scored an incredible long-range strike against Rotherham United - and former Chelsea youngster Rohan Ince, who volleyed into the back of the net for Brighton.
