Kalvin Phillips scored the best of the bunch for Leeds United's under-21s this week.
Leeds United player Kalvin Phillips has the talent to be the next youngster to break into Neil Redfearn’s first-team.
And as if to prove it, the 19-year-old scored a beauty during Leeds under-21s’ 5-0 win against their Huddersfield Town counterparts on Monday afternoon.
Phillips was one of five different names on the score-sheet but his was the pick of the bunch and now LUTV have posted the goal on their official Twitter account for all to see.
The Leeds prospect collected the ball just outside the area before taking a moment then dispatching an unstoppable right-footed drive into the bottom corner.
It was a strike to get Redfearn’s attention, and when you consider how well other young players such as Alex Mowatt, Lewis Cook and Charlie Taylor have done this season, it would be no surprise if Phillips got his chance before the end of May.
Leeds will not want to wind down; if anything they will look to maintain their fine start to 2015. But there will come a time when Phillips can be used. It is surely a matter of when not if.
