Tottenham's Danny Rose reportedly given surprise international chance

Danny Rose is reportedly wanted to represent Jamaica.

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Jamaica are interested in recruiting Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose ahead of the Copa America.

The 24-year-old has represented England at every level from under-16 to under-21 but he has yet to win a senior cap and as a result his international allegiance remains up for grabs.

Rose has made 27 appearances for Tottenham this season and he is very much the first choice left-back at White Hart Lane despite the presence of Ben Davies.

The report claims Rose is not the only player Jamaica have their eye on, with Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon and Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom, who is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion, also under consideration.

The report claims intermediaries have been trying to make contact with the Tottenham full-back to discuss the possibility of turning out for the country at the showpiece event this summer.

Rose did recently acknowledge the fact that he was nowhere near making his senior Three Lions debut with the likes of Leighton Baines, Luke Shaw and Ryan Bertrand all ahead of him.

So could he take an unlikely alternative path to international recognition? Only time will tell…
