Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has told the Daily Echo how he’s feeling at the South Coast club.
Fresh speculation has been reported by the Daily Mirror over the Frenchman’s future at his current club, but the player doesn’t sound like a man who is worried or thinking about moving on from St Mary’s.
“I feel very good, I feel the best physically as I've ever been, I feel good on the ball, I feel very confident, so hopefully I can continue,” said Schneiderlin.
“That's what I want - progress, progress, progress. I am not the finished product, I know I can still do more, I can still progress.”
“To have this club now in 2015 in Champions League would be amazing, but, to be honest, we just want to give the fans what they deserve.”
The player’s comments about how he’s currently feeling at the club suggest that Ronald Koeman deserves a huge pat on the back.
The Dutch boss has done wonders to reinvent the Frenchman and to find a way for him to dominate in the Saints midfield, thus reducing the urge he might have felt to leave.
Koeman will also be delighted that Schneiderlin seems determined to carry on improving and getting better with various aspects of his game and performances.
He’s showing a willingness to take on challenges and improve, which means Southampton have a more rounded player available.
The Champions League would certainly be a superb achievement for the club if they can pull it off.
They are well placed in the race for a top four place and hitting that target would certainly improve the club’s chances of keeping Schneiderlin looking ahead to next season.
