West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino was at Old Trafford on Monday to watch the clash between Manchester United and Arsenal, according to The Daily Mail.
The British newspaper has published photographs of the 21-year-old watching the FA Cup quarter-final tie between two of the biggest clubs of England.
Berahino is rated as one of the best young strikers in the Premier League, and him attending the game at Old Trafford is certainly going to spark speculation of a move away from the Baggies in the summer.
In fact, The Daily Mail itself has asked the question: “Is Saido Berahino the latest star on Manchester United's summer shopping list?”
Berahino could have just been watching the game at Old Trafford for his own pleasure, but there can be no denial that he is a striker who has been linked with a move away from The Hawthorns for quite some time.
According to The Sun, the youngster has been linked with Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, and it now seems that United may have some interest in him too.
Should Manchester United target Saido Berahino?
United have four recognised centre-forwards in their squad, but one of them is unlikely to remain next season.
Radamel Falcao’s form and fitness has been questionable so far this season, and it will come as a surprise to many if the Red Devils decide to make his loan move from AS Monaco permanent in the summer.
Wayne Rooney will certainly be part of the team and so will Robin van Persie, although both are not young anymore and the latter is past his best.
James Wilson is one for the future and could play a greater role next season, but Falcao’s departure could also see manager Louis van Gaal sign a replacement.
Berahino could be that replacement, although the fact that he is still 21 and has not been consistent over the past two seasons could have an unfavourable effect on Van Gaal’s decision.
The West Brom striker started the season well and then fizzled out, but in the last few weeks he has turned on the style again.
In 28 Premier League appearances for the Baggies so far this campaign, Berahino has scored 12 goal and created 21 chances, while having a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 52%.
