Derby have lost two and drawn one in their last three, which has seen the lead they were developing at the top of the Championship table disintegrate.
McClaren is under pressure to transform results and get the side back on track, but he’s suggested there’s no real cause for the recent results.
“Our destiny is in our own hands, as we always wanted it. So if we do it or don't do it, it's down to ourselves,” said McClaren.
“We have to get on with it - We have to get through this. We have to deal with it.”
The determination of the manager is admirable and it will be interesting to see if the Rams take a more bullish and determined approach into their next game.
Derby should have bounced back in their last game against Birmingham, but conceded late goals, which meant they were only able to secure a point.
McClaren’s approach is dangerous because three negative results in a row suggests sides have found a way to exploit them tactically.
However, he seems determined to allow the same group of players who created a lead at the top, the chance to get the side back into a dominant position.
Whether determination is enough to get Derby promoted will be interesting to see.
