Keown says he would try and sign Kondogbia for Arsenal if he had £50m

Arsenal legend Martin Keown says he would try and sign a Ligue One player if he had £50 million to spend at the Emirates.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown revealed on Kicca who he would sign for the Gunners if he had £50 million.

Keown was asked directly by a fan what he’d do with that budget and he suggested the player he would look to go after.

“I wouldn't spend it all on one player, that's for sure. Perhaps I'd go and buy a couple of those Monaco players who took Arsenal apart in the Champions League recently. I like the look of Geoffrey Kondogbia, he's right up Arsenal's street,” said Keown.

Kondogbia was superb in the Champions League game against the Gunners, with the way he protected his defence.

There has been the suggestion for some time that Arsenal need an authoritative presence in front of their back four, but the club seem to have found a solution in the form of Francis Coquelin.

Coquelin has been superb in the holding midfield role since returning from his loan spell against Charlton and maintained his good form with an impressive performance against Manchester United last night.

In terms of signing the 22-year-old from Monaco, Arsenal would probably have a struggle on their hands.

According to transfermarkt, his contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2018, which would make him very expensive if the Gunners or any other side decided they wanted to try and poach him away from the Ligue One club.
