George Graham suggests Arsenal are getting to drips with a key weakness

Former Arsenal manager George Graham has revealed where he was impressed with his old side's performance last night.

Former Arsenal manager George Graham told talkSPORT that he feels the Gunners have got on top of their main weakness.

Graham was impressed with his old side’s performance as they secured a 2-1 win away at Old Trafford to knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup.

“When they lost possession, they looked a lot more solid protecting their back four, which has been a problem for them this season,” said Graham.

“I was so impressed with Arsenal without the ball. They looked a lot more solid, even though the first half was pretty even.”

Arsenal have been open to criticism at times this season for the way they have left themselves open at the back, when they have pressed forward looking to apply pressure.

The recent Champions League defeat against Monaco showed how easily they can sometimes be counter attacked, but they got it right last night.

The main challenge for current manager Arsene Wenger is now going to be how he improves the team in terms of their consistency.

The Gunners have played well away from home in games against both Manchester clubs this season and need to box up the positive defensive work they did last night and carry that forward.

They’ll face a different sort of challenge against West Ham this weekend, where they’ll need to show that defensive discipline, with the Hammers likely to sit back and invite the Gunners onto them.

Hopefully Arsenal fans have seen the last of inconsistency this season across their backline.
