Chelsea media round-up: David Luiz warns old side ahead of Champions League clash

Stamford Bridge

A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

David Luiz has warned Chelsea not to sit back and defend in the Champions League second leg of the tie against PSG, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

The Brazilian has predicted that Chelsea will use park the bus tactics against PSG this week, looking to hurt the French side on the counter.

However, the current PSG star has suggested that’s a dangerous tactic considering the talent in the French side’s attack.

“To sit back and just defend against Zlatan, Cavani and Lavezzi can also be very dangerous, so it is not just us who have to be careful,” he said.

Thibaut Courtois has been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting that Kurt Zouma can become one of the best young defenders in the world.

Zouma has made a good impact during his first full season with the Blues, rising to the occasion when he’s been handed chances by Jose Mourinho.

The Chelsea goalkeeper is well placed to offer an opinion on Zouma, having watched him play in a position just ahead of him at the back of Chelsea’s team.

“Zouma has a lot of talent. I think that he can become one of the best defenders in the world if he continues like this,” said Courtois.

The Metro has reported that Chelsea will make an offer of close to £40 million for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

Jose Mourinho is a well known admirer of the French player, once describing him as the best young defender in the world.

The paper claims the Blues boss wants to setup a sustainable supply line for his defence with Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry edging towards the later stages of their careers.
